This weekend we celebrate Transfiguration Sunday. Jesus’ divinity is revealed to Peter, James, and John, but also God the Father reinforces who Jesus is for those who believe. Jesus is the Son of God and the words He gave us, taught us are words we ought to follow as we go on our faith journey.
As believers, we are called to make most of our time. How are you doing on that directive? Our time might seem like it is ours to spend and do as we think we ought, but in fact, each moment of every single day is given to us by God. We ought to strive to make our days glorify the Lord in all we do and say.
It’s hard to believe we are at the end of the first month in the new year. Have you been listening for God during this time? Have you heard Him speak to the one thing He wants you to do for Him this year? Maybe you have heard something or had a thought about what to do and yet you asked God, Why me? Why now? That’s exactly what we’ll be discussing this weekend during worship. We might know what God's answer is already— Why not you! Why not now! Imagine the people you know or that know you, there is no better person to speak to them about the love of Christ than you!
Sometimes life seems that way even when the sun is shining. Where do you turn when the world seems cold and dark? Scripture reminds us that We can look up! We can turn to the promises of God in His word. That is what we will be discussing this week as we come to worship as the Body of Christ.
On the Church calendar we move from the birth of Christ to the ministry of Christ at lighting speed. Well, this week we will look at the new direction God took them as a Holy Family and it just might spur us into asking God what is the one thing He would like us to do in 2021 as a church and as followers of Christ. Join us as we come together to worship and celebrate Holy Communion as the Body of Christ.
This week we take a few steps into a New Year and trust God with everything that might lie ahead in it. God is always doing a new thing in our hearts, minds, and lives when we surrender them over to His plan and purpose. Join us this week as we discover “All Things New” and how God longs for us to join Him in this New Year.
This week we will bring Joy to the World through our praise. God’s Word has so much to say about praise it could be a sermon series in and of itself. But as we look at the characters of Moses and Mary, we find that we can rejoice for our hope has come… and Jesus will soon be returning to restore all things. Now that is something we can have an expectation of praise shouted from the mountain tops!
There are physical, emotional, and spiritual benefits of being thankful to God and others. We are called as followers of Christ to encourage one another until the Day of Lord happens. Gratitude is one of those ways we can lift each other up.
We’re in the month of giving thanks to God for His faithfulness. We can learn to be thankful. We can know we ought to be thankful but it is in the expression of gratitude that we build one another up and give honor to God for the gifts given to each person.
They say practice makes perfect. I’m not sure we’ll be perfect until we are in the presence of God, but as Christians we are called to practice righteousness in our walk of faith. This means learning what it means to give thanks and how to be thankful. Join us as we step into learning mode and walk as Jesus walked with a thankful heart.
